Awesome Green Smoothie

Seriously this is the most awesome green smoothie I’ve EVER made!

 

I have been trying to have a green smoothie daily as an easy way to get more raw greens in my diet. I always feel much better when I eat mostly raw foods, but it takes time and preparation and I don’t always have the time (or energy) to commit to it. Therefore…the awesome green smoothie. Sometimes they turn out so – so, sometimes they are super fantastic. Usually I use what I have on hand, and don’t write down what I put in it, but this time I did, because it was oh so yummy. Actually it would make a great raw soup gently warmed.

Without further ado or ramblings, here it is:

Awesome Green Smoothie

  • Several handfuls of spinach packed down in the blender
  • 1 – 2 Kale leaves
  • 1 frozen banana
  • Grated raw sweet potato – about 1/2 cup
  • 1 Stick celery
  • 2 or 3 small broccoli florets
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 1/2 small avocado (don’t leave this out – makes it creamy)
  • 1/2 to 1 small apple
  • 3 Frozen or fresh strawberries
  • 1 Frozen or fresh peach slice
  • 1 Tbs Chia seeds
  • 1Tbs Flax seeds (ground)
  • 1 tsp Hemp seeds
  • Dash red pepper flakes or 1/2 fresh cayenne pepper
  • Squeeze of lemon
  • 1 or 2 drops Orange Essential Oil – optional if you don’t have a brand of oil approved for internal use
  • 1/2 cup Orange juice
  • Coconut milk or Almond milk – enough to make it blend – 1/2 – 1 cup. You can always add more, taking out liquid is not gonna happen 🙂

You want 3/4 greens to 1/4 the rest. Blend well – longer than you think if using a regular blender, and enjoy. A little sweet, a little spicy. You won’t even taste any “greens” for those of you that don’t like the taste. If you use frozen fruit, you won’t have to put in any ice cubes. If you want to experiment and turn it into a soup, add a bit more spice, maybe Turmeric? All these ingredients have amazing health benefits.  Gently warm, serve with apple slices.

This smoothie is full of healthy ingredients, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, protein, rich in omega 3 fatty acids, and garlic for immune boosting power.
